Creating Filters
A filter is an option to specify a product collection in a targeted way. If there is a collection of jeans, a filter can be set based on color. Once this filter is set up, it can be displayed in the web shop so that visitors can use it to filter.
For creating filters there are two important elements in Afosto:
Product Specifications.
- To be able to filter a collection of jeans by color, for example, it is important that the products themselves have a color specification. Thus, it is important that a product is properly added.
Filters
- The heading filters can be found in the Afosto menu on the left.
Procedure
We explain adding a filter using the example of jeans. If there is a collection of jeans, then a filter can be set based on color. This filter option needs to be added as an attribute to a product. The product settings look like this:
Name: Jeans X
Collection: Jeans
Product Specification > Add new specification
New attribute > Color: Blue
When the attribute ‘Color’ is specified in product specifications, this attribute automatically appears under filters (left side of the menu). When filters are opened, a page with two parts appears.
The first part concerns the name of the filter and the type of filter.
- For the name, you can enter the name as it should be displayed on the web shop.
- The type of filter has two options. A checkbox filter concerns the possibility of filtering with multiple options. For example, the possibility of filtering with the colors blue and black. A radio filter is a possibility to filter between options. So for example filtering with the colors blue or black (no multiple options possible).
The second part concerns the filter attributes. Here one can check the attribute that is desired for this filter. Below that the values of the filter can be entered. For example, for the attribute color, all possible colors can be entered below it. Under options you will find all possible values found for all products under the attribute color. Suppose there are products with the colors light blue and blue and you want to show that on your webshop under only the color blue, then you can drag the two options together and give it the name blue. See the example below for that:
